Inner Child
When you were a kid
You colored with gusto
Making so many lines, shapes and squiggles
When you were a kid you colored outside the lines
You drew purple trees that hid orange cows
And pink birds flying in a green sky
When you were a kid you imagined new creatures unseen by mankind
On paper you brought them to life
But only when you were a kid.
When did you learn to color inside the lines
Society taught you only
paint what you see, write what is taught and to echo what others say
Green trees, blue skies, and only animals of this world.
When did you learn to listen so well
When did you become a follower
How long did it take to conform to the outlines
The directions presented to you
When did you lose this magic of childhood
I think you should paint what you imagine
Write what you feel
And speak of your passions
I think you deserve to be individual
I think there should be more magic in the world
I think your inner child has magic to share and needs you to be her ally.
I know what i'm asking is difficult
But I will ask all the same
Please my friend, let the world bask in the glory of your inner child's magic once again.
