Salvage

Run a  red light

Cuse you are in a rush

Panting and shaking

Fingers intertwined on the wheel

Foot to the ground

Never mind the yellow

Drumming in your ears as

You race to make the light

You may think you succeed

But you didnt

You did not succeed

Cracking pavement beneath the tires

Grinding gears as another swerves

In an attempt to save distance

To salvage lives

You so carelessly risk

Many more than you

Lives in the balance

In your hands

Please she whispers

Save the children first

Now a place of scrap metal

And body parts

Flashlights as the sirens arrive

First responders

To your plight

Once more you did this

In a rush for what

Was it worth it

To be frozen in time

Unable to break the compound

Scared for those involved

A blur of red no blue

Swirls before you

Please remember this  moment

This feeling

hopelessness

Panic

Never again

Run the clear luminescent

Red
